My name is Michelle Bunting. I grew up on a farm in small town Iowa. I have been painting ever since I can remember. I went to Coe College and received a Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in Painting.
Growing up in the country meant I spent a good amount of time outdoors. Therefore, I mostly painted what I knew – Iowa rural landscapes. As I have grown and traveled more, I have expanded my painting subjects. All of my paintings are done from photographs, but I am not a plagiarist. Aside from commissioned paintings, all of the paintings are places I have personally been to.
I work mainly in acrylic paint, although I did use oils in college, and hope to one day get back to them. I love using bright colors while still making them look realistic.
With my art I hope to express the beauty of nature, even the stereotypical “boring” and flat Iowa rural landscapes.
